Very few owners decide calmly in the first hour after a crash. At first, the car is a shock, then a repair question, then maybe an insurance matter, and only later does scrapping or salvage feel realistic. That slower path is normal.

Collection access matters too. A car that cannot roll from a steep drive or tight yard may cost more effort to move. Storage fees at a bodyshop or recovery yard can also reduce the benefit of waiting. Put those practical costs beside the repair estimate.
Missing parts should be treated honestly. If the battery, catalyst, wheels, keys or lights have already gone, the salvage return will change. That does not mean disposal is wrong; it just means the quote should match the car that is actually there.

Gather the photos, repair quote, insurer notes, storage position, missing-parts list, keys and access details. Then compare the routes honestly: repair, keep waiting, sell as salvage, or scrap through collection.
Once the decision is made, tidy the handover. Remove belongings, keep records, and make sure the quote reflects the damaged vehicle as it really is. A car can hold memories, but it can also become a problem that keeps taking space, money and attention. When the evidence points that way, clearing it is a sensible decision, not a failure.
